Konta’sunlikely run continues
Johanna Konta became the first British woman in more than three decades to reach a grand slam semi, beating Zhang Shuai. At age 11, Johanna Konta zipped past every boy and girl in her age group to become the 800 metres champion. A dozen years later, Konta is now the first British woman in 33 years to have progressed to a grand slam semifinal, thanks to a 6-4 6-1 win over Zhang Shuai in the Australian open quarterfinals.

Kerber blasts past Azarenka
Angelique Kerber seed overpowered Victoria Azarenka -the in-form Belarusian- to book her first Australian open semifinal. Angelique Kerber became the first German to reach the semifinals at Melbourne park since 1998 after stunning Azarenka 6-3 7-5 on wednesday. After going down to Azarenka comfortably in the recent WTA final in Brisbane, the no.7 seed played inspired tennis to finally snap her 6-0 losing streak against the Belarusian.
